Ever thought of trying your hand at making rustic furntiture or other items in an ancient Dorest bluebell wood? With all the birds singing, squirrels nibbling at your toes, roe deer dashing past and the odd fox coming to have a look? Well here's your chance!
I run two day courses over a weekend making just such items. I take up to 6 people at a time - who all want to give it a go and have te same interests at heart. The day starts by deciding what you would like to make (you may already know, or have an idea) and I can soon tell you if it will work. Don't forget we only have two days so nothing too grand! Size matters here as you take home all you make. You then chose and cut out the wood you want to use, and off you go - soretd. What items can I make on the course?
Students on the course have made items such as tables, chairs, arches, gates, fencing, a pole lathe, a swan and numerous others, so youcan do pretty much anything (within reason!). What tools will we use? The tools we use are Shave horse, Drawknife, Pole lathe, Billhook, Axe and other small hand tools. What about lunch? You can have a go at using the smoker to cook food in!! We stop at around 1 o'clock for smoked dinner, either salmon or chicken, and jacket potatoes. Then on sunday we have a ploughmans Do I need my own tools? And how much is it? The cost is £100 per person, and all the tools that you'll need are provided. Where can I stay the night? Unfortunately, we can't camp in the woods but there are plenty of nice B&B's nearby. Accomodation is not included in the price. |
